Bai Xian Pi

Dictamni dasycarpi root bark

   

Properties:

Bitter   - Cold

Meridians:

SP, ST

Names:  Adiptam, Dittany, Fraxinella, Gas Plant, Herba Dictamni Herba. Dictamnus albus, burning bush root.

Family: Rutaceae.

Indications

  • clears toxic heat and fire, expels wind, dries damp
    • sores, carbuncles, rashes with excessive pus, moist skin, jaundice

Dosage: 6 – 9g.

Also Used For:

Orally, bai xian pi is used for digestive and urogenital disorders, and to promote hair growth.  

Topically, burning bush root is used for eczema, impetigo, and scabies.

Also In Chinese medicine (China and Korea), bai xian pi is applied topically for arthritis, fever, hepatitis, skin inflammation, thread fungus, uterine hemorrhages, to calm children crying as a result of a nervous state, and as a sedative and tonic.

In folk medicine, bai xian pi is used as a diuretic and spasmolytic.

Historically, burning bush root was used for desiccation, epilepsy, hysteria, worm infestations, and to promote menstruation.

In India, burning bush root is used for amenorrhea and birth control.
