Indications:
Blood stagnation in head, chest, and diaphragm
causing pain in chest and hypochondria, chronic fixed stabbing
headaches, chronic hiccups, choking sensation while drinking, dry
heaves, depression, warmth in the chest, palpitations, insomnia,
restless sleep, irritable, mood swings, dark or purple lips
,complexion or sclera, evening tidal fever. T: dark red with dark
spots on the sides; P: choppy or wiry tight.

Blood's Mansion is a modified
version of Zue Fu Zhu Yu Tang. This prescription was originally
designed by Dr. Wang Qing-ren, author of the Correction of Errors
of the Medical Forest (yi lin gai cuo) in 1830 C.E. Dispelling
Blood stasis has become a very important component of the current
Chinese medical treatment of autoimmune disorders. Clinical
studies show that Dispel Stasis in the Mansion of Blood Decoction
(xue fu zhu yu tang) is useful in the treatment of cancer, heart
disease, multiple sclerosis, lupus and immune deficiency
disorders.
Blood's Mansion is useful in any
disorder with systemic Blood stagnation, especially in the
elderly, including those with cholesterol problems or
arteriosclerosis. It is also a valuable ally in the treatment of
emotional and mental disorders, aiding in the relief of
depression, mania, schizophrenia, insomnia, and restlessness. A
recent study in China* showed that a modified version of dispel
Stasis in the Mansion of Blood Decoction is effective in the
treatment of nightmares followed by sudden awakening with
palpitations and anger. This condition is caused by Liver Yin and
Blood Vacuity and Liver Qi stasis preventing the Hun (ethereal
soul) from being quietly contained during sleep. Plum-pit Qi (mei
he qi), where there is a lump in the throat connected to
unresolved emotions, is another condition that can be effectively
treated with this prescription when there is concurrent Blood
stasis obstructing the connecting vessels (luo mai).
