 Wind Damp Bi - Cold

Wu Tou Tang

 

Aconite D.

Function: Disples cold and warm channels, tonify qi, stop pain.

Composition: 

 

Zhi Chuan Wu

Aconitum

6-15g

 

Huang Qi

Astragalus

9-12g

 

Ma Huang

Ephedra

6-9g

 

Bai Shao Yao

Paeonia

6-9g

 

Gan Cao

Glycyrrhiza

3-6g

  • Zhi Chuan Wu should be decocted first for about 30 min. to reduce its toxicity, before adding the other ingredients into the preparation.

Indications:

Severe joint pain due to long-term invasion of wind damp cold bi in the meridians causing severe bi symptoms (especially cold bi) in patients with deficient qi.  the key symptoms are severe pain and coldness of the muscles and joints, marked limitation of the joint movement (mainly hands and feet), heavy feeling in the muscles, absence of thirst.  Generaly symptoms include aversion to cold, tiredness, poor appetite, loose stools, predispositions to catch common cold.  T: pale with white and greasy coat and slight tooth-marks on the edge of the tongue; P: wiry, tight, and slow, or slightly slippery.

Caution.  Caution during pregnancy
