Indications:
 

HT and KI yin deficiency, HT blood deficiency, and false heat where KI and HT don't harmonize leading to irritable, palpitations with anxiety, fatigue, insomnia, inability to concentrate even for small periods of time, nocturnal emissions, forgetfulness, dry stools, cankers, night sweats.  T: red, red tip; P: rapid and thin.

Modern Applications:
Dacosta syndrome.  This formula is suggested to people taking anxiety pills, psychotic pills, and antidepressents, to  reduce side effects and promote recovery.

Dosage:
This formula is sold under different forms and dosages.  It is therefore important to follow the manufacturer's recommendations.  Yin tonics should be taken during three to six months.

Caution
The original traditional formula includes zhu sha (cinnabar) which has a mercury salt and is toxic.

Historics
This formula is cited in the book She Sheng Mi (Secret Studies to acquire Health) written by Hong Ji (Jiu-You) in 1638.  The author mentions having received the revelation of it during a dream by the celestial emperor himself.  It is this story that gave its name.
