Indications:
LR blood deficiency with false heat leading to HT yin and blood
deficiency. Symptoms include irritability, insomnia, palpitations,
night sweats, dizziness, dry throat and mouth, dry red tongue if
heat, pale if not, wiry or thin rapid pulse.
Analysis: This is an example of a
compound prescription, composed of common, mild ingredients that
have increased potency when combined.
Note: You Zai-Jing explains this
formula by stating that, "during the day, our hun resides in the
eyes; at night, when the eyes are closed, the hun returns in the
LR; when LR blood is deficient, it cannot hold the Hun, which
escapes." People suffering from this afflication fall asleep
easily, but their sleep is disturbed by numerous dreams.
