Xu, Yin - HT

Gan Mai Da Zao Tang

                         甘 麥 大 棗 湯

 Licorice, Wheat, and Jujube Decoction

Function: nourish Heart & calm spirit, harmonizes mid Jiao

Composition: 

 
Gan Cao
Radix glycyrrhizae uralensis
9g
 
Fu Xiao Mai
Semen tritici aestivi levis
9-15g
 
Da Zao
Fructus zizyphi jujubae
10
 
 
Indications: Emotional disturbances due to (1) LR qi stagnation (use with xiao yao san); (2) LR qi stagnation with fire burning the yin (use with wen dan tang) or (3) Yin deficiency with fire injuring the HT.  Symptoms include disorientation, frequent attacks of melancholy and crying spells, inability to control oneself, restless sleep, and eventually night sweats, copious yawning.  T: red, scanty coat; P: thin, rapid.
