13. Formulas - Tranquilization

 

 

Heavy & compressing

  • Zhu Sha An Shen Wan – sedate Heart, calm spirit, drain Fire, nourish Yin
    Indications: insomnia, continuous palpitations, irritable, heat in the chest, desire to vomit, dream disturbed sleep, red tongue, thin rapid pulse.
  • Ci Zhu Wan – heavily sedates & calms spirit, anchors Yang, improves vision & hearing
    Indications: palpitations, insomnia, tinnitus, diminished auditory and visual acuity, seizures.

 

 

Nourishing

  • Suan Zao Ren Tang – nourishes blood, calm spirit, clear Heat, relieve mental restlessness
    Indications: irritable, insomnia, palpitations, night sweats, dizziness, dry throat and mouth, dry red tongue if heat, pale if not, wiry or thin rapid pulse.
  • Tian Wang Bu Xin Dan – nourishes Yin & blood, tonifies Heart & calms spirit
    Indications: irritable, palpitations with anxiety, fatigue, insomnia, inability to concentrate even for small periods of time, nocturnal emissions, forgetfulness, dry stools, red tongue scanty coat, thin rapid pulse, cankers, night sweats, Heart and Kidney Yin deficiency.
  • Bai Zi Yang Xin Wan – nourishes Heart, calm spirit, tonifies Kidney Yin
    Indications: severe continuous palpitations, dream disturbed sleep, forgetfulness, night sweats, disharmony between Heart and Kidneys
  • Gan Mai Da Zao Tang – nourish Heart & calm spirit, harmonizes mid Jiao
    Indications: disorientation, frequent attacks of melancholy and crying spells, cannot control oneself, restless sleep, may have night sweats, copious yawning, red tongue scanty coat, thin rapid pulse.

 

 

Astringent

  • Yu Ping Feng San – tonifies Qi, stabilize exterior, stops sweating
    Indications: aversion to drafts, spontaneous sweats, recurrent colds, shiny pale face, pale tongue white coat, floating weak soft pulse
  • Si Shen Wan – warms & tonifies Spleen & Kidneys, binds intestines to stop diarrhea
    Indications: 5am diarrhea, lack of interest in food and inability to digest, low back soreness, cold limbs, fatirue, pale tongue with thin white coat. deep slow forceless pulse, may be abdominal pain.
  • Mu Li San – inhibits sweating & stabilizes exterior
    Indications: spontaneous sweat that is worse at night, palpitations, easily startled, shortness of breath, irritability, lethargy, pale red tongue, thin frail pulse.
  • Jin Suo Gu Jing Wan – astringe & stabilize Kidneys, stops spermatorrhea
    Indications: chronic spermatorrhea, impotence, fatigue, weakness, sore and weak limbs, lower back pain, tinnitus, pale tongue with white coat, thin frail pulse.
  • Zhen Ren Yang Zang Tang – warms mid Jiao, tonifies deficiency, astringes intestines to stop diarrhea
    Indications: chronic diarrhea sometimes to the point of incontinence, in severe cases rectal prolapse, diarrhea may contain pus and/or blood (tenesmus), this would be accompanied by persistent abdominal pain relieved by pressure and warmth, lethargy, wan complexion, small appetite, low back soreness, weak legs, pale tongue with white coat, slow thin pulse.
  • Sang Piao Xiao San – regulates & tonifies Heart Kidney, stabilize Essence, stop leakage
    Indications: frequent urination (sometimes to the point of incontinence), grey/white cloudy urine sometimes with spermatorrhea, disorientation, poor memory, pale tongue with white coat, thin slow frail pulse.
